Elk

Elk hunting will be done mostly on private land bordering the National Forest. Terrain consists of sagebrush hillsides to timbered mountain. Being part of the winter range, as well as having residental elk, provides excellent opportunity to glass many elk before making the stalk.

The day will start with an early hot breakfast, with hunting immediately after. We will either walk out and begin hunting or jump in the 4×4 depending on hunter ability and elk location.

The lodge is at over 8,000 foot elevation, with the elk typically as high as 9,000 or more. Elk hunters should come in the best shape possible, and be prepared to hike at elevation.

Comboing an elk hunt with antelope is also a great way to spend the middle of the days when elk tend to be less active, along with getting to hunt another species.
